The Salvation Army of Atlanta is experiencing a drastic decline in donations. In fact, the organization tells Patch that it is currently only at 50 percent of its goal as of this past Tuesday. After more than 50 years, The Salvation Army has announced the closing of the West End Boy’s and Girl’s Club. Located at 1191 Donnelly Ave., Atlanta, Ga., 30310, the club had been an institution in the West End community for over 50 years. “We had to close because the economy has left us in such a situation we are no longer able to offer programs in this facility,”Salvation Army director Major James told WSB-TV earlier this week. James and other officials have said a set back in donations left the Salvation Army no option but to make budget cuts over $1,000,000.
