New Local Coupon Booklet Includes Local Businesses and Funds Local College Scholarships

Oppidan Finds Incorporated, has partnered with several businesses in southwest Atlanta who have agreed to provide exclusive discounts to individuals.

Cascade Patch has just learned about a great new way to shop locally and also help local students with college tuition. Below you will find all of the information that was submitted to Cascade Patch.  I know I support a number of the local businesses on the list already, including the West End Print Shop and Splash Car Spa.  This seems to be a great way to get a small discount and also support local students in going to college. Local Student Wins Sun Life Rising Star Scholarship

Ce'Darius Glaze, who goes to Therrell High School, was among the award recipients who got a big surprise.

Ce'Darius Glaze, a student at Therrell High School, recently won a scholarship from Sun Life Financial's Rising Star Award program and got his award in a big way. Glaze and other Rising Star Award recipients took in a special VIP experience with Cirque du Soleil performers, learning the ropes of what it takes to do Cirque du Soleil. Then, after that VIP treatment, he was surprised with his $5,000 scholarship in a ceremony before the main event, a performance of the show Totem. The Rising Star Awards are given to two nonprofit organizations and a student nominated by each of those groups. Glaze was nominated by the Andrew and Walter Young Family YMCA, where he is a camp counselor and peer leader. He also works (through the Atlanta Workforce…

Did You Know that 1 in 50 Washington High School Seniors are Gates Scholars; the most Anywhere

Washington High School has the distinct honor of having the most Gates scholars in the Atlanta Public Schools system.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Millennium Scholarship is awarded every year to 1000 students from all over the country, and pays for their entire college expenses. (both undergrad and post-grad) According to a report by Keith Whitney of WXIA, Atlanta has the 3rd largest amount of students who have been awarded this honor.  In addition, our very own Washington High School had the largest percentage represented in that number. Washington High is one of the most historic schools in Atlanta due to its role during the days of segregation, and to hear that a number of their students are flourishing and receiving national accolades is a wonderful feeling recognition for the entire community.  We must also congratulate the teachers for their hard work…
