This special summer camp teaches teens how to produce their own song and record a music video.
Be Proactive Foundation has probably one of the coolest summer camps in Atlanta. This elite group of Atlanta teenagers are learning from music industry professionals, how to write, produce, and shoot their own music video and song. Over 25 teens come together during the summer weeks at F22 Studios in East Atlanta to spend quality time being productive and proactive, instead of wasting away at home during the summer break. Their reward is the opportunity to learn how to make their own song, that will eventually be professionally produced, mastered and printed on a CD. For the past 2 years Peniece LeGall, the Director of Writer/Publisher Relations at SESAC, has mentored and supported the campers. She said it is just something that she …

Sometimes something I say or do will strike a nerve among my real life and online friends. After my previous article, "Keeping Up While Laying Back," readers requested more educational websites that they could use during the summer. From the article: Indeed, the notion that learning stops in May and begins again in September has been quite the controversial conversation in my mommy circles over the past few years. In the book "Outliers," by Malcolm Gladwell, (which I humbly believe should be required reading for all parents), the author states, “For its poorest students, America doesn’t have a school problem; It has a summer-vacation problem.” Putting numbers to the idea of the summer learning slide, The National Summer Learning …
