Rain and Wind Brings Down Trees and Power Lines in Metro Atlanta
After 24 hours of heavy rain and some heavy wind, trees and power lines have been coming down throughout Atlanta.
While the Northeastern part of the country has gone through a record blizzard the past few days, here in metro Atlanta we have been forced to deal with a steady down-pouring of rain and some wind. According to WSB meteorologist David Chandley, "between one to two inches of rain has fallen since Sunday night, with up to two more inches possible on Monday." The rain is predicted to stay in the area until Wednesday. These steady rains can soften up the ground just enough so that when a brisk wind happens to pass by, trees can topple over and pull themselves from the ground with their roots intact.
