Washington High School has the distinct honor of having the most Gates scholars in the Atlanta Public Schools system.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Millennium Scholarship is awarded every year to 1000 students from all over the country, and pays for their entire college expenses. (both undergrad and post-grad) According to a report by Keith Whitney of WXIA, Atlanta has the 3rd largest amount of students who have been awarded this honor.  In addition, our very own Washington High School had the largest percentage represented in that number. Washington High is one of the most historic schools in Atlanta due to its role during the days of segregation, and to hear that a number of their students are flourishing and receiving national accolades is a wonderful feeling recognition for the entire community.  We must also congratulate the teachers for their hard work…

"A student at the school reported the situation, and all of the altered records were changed back to accurately reflect the affected students’ true attendance and course assignments," Bromery said. "As the student used an established log-in name and password, school officials …
