3 SW Atlanta High Schools Newly Named AP STEM Schools

Banneker High School, Langston Hughes High School, and Westlake High School were recognized for their high achievement

Mia Evon Cruse was found safe in Smyrna by Smryna Police Department.

Mia Evon Cruse, who attends Westlake High School, was reported missing over the weekend but has now been located and in good condition. It is unclear why the teen ran away, or exactly what happened between Friday and today, but we are able to report that the teen has been located by Smyrna police near Campbell High School. According to an AJC report, the teen was last seen Friday night at a Westlake High football game.  Mia Cruse sent a text to friends around 9pm on Friday, and then called 911 before her phone completely shut-off.  That was the last anyone had heard from her. This grant allows Westlake to provide additional support and services to our ninth grade students and their families.

(submitted by E. Gwyn) Dear Westlake Families and Staff, I am excited to share with you recent success story for our school... In fact, students who fail courses in ninth grade are more at-risk for having excessive disciplinary problems and ultimately dropping out of school. The AT&T/Community in Schools Grant will allow our school to…

New Westlake High School football coach Stanley Pritchett began spring practice this week. But he also found time in his busy schedule to answer a few questions from Cascade Patch: What attracted you to the Westlake job? Well, I grew up in the southwest Atlanta area so i know the tradition and legacy of Westlake and I felt like it was the perfect fit for me.
