Local Election Laws Force Nkromo Kwabena's Green Party Campaign for District 57 to End

Nkromo Kwabena's run for the District 57 race for State House Representative comes to an early end.

Candidate Kwabena "Cubby" Nkromo, of the Green Party and running for the District 57 State Representative seat, recently released a press release announcing his withdrawal from the race.  Nkromo had been seen throughout our various neighborhoods campaigning for ballot choice, and asking residents to sign a petition to let him be on the November ballot as a Green Party representative. In Georgia, to be placed on the actual ballot, a third-party candidate needs a huge number of petition signatures by August 6th.  Today the Kwabena Nkromo campaign withdrew from the race because the unlikelihood of overcoming the large barrier to entry. I have decided to officially cease my race for State Representative due to our campaign’s unlikelihood of …

Video: Highlights of Rep. Pat Gardner Press Conference; Denies 'Gay-Baiting' for House District 57

Rep. Pat Gardner visited Paschal's Restaurant to hold her first press luncheon on the campaign trail.

Rep. Pat Gardner is a democrat pitted against another fellow democrat in a race for the Georgia House Representative seat for District 57.  District 57 was redistricted by House Republicans, so that fellow incumbent Democrats would have to challenge each-other for a single seat. Rep. Gardner held her scheduled press luncheon on Tuesday afternoon just hours after her opponent Rep. Rashad Taylor called a press conference to ask Pat Gardner to "denounce", what he called "anti-gay" flyers that were supposedly distributed to certain Southwest Atlanta neighborhoods. Rep. Gardner acknowledged the other campaign by responding to a GA Voice reporter's question about the issue.  She said, "I have had support from the gay community from the first day…

Dr. Henderson YOU are absolutely RIGHT!!! I should be nominated for a CNN hero's award and I should have won hands down each election I entered, because my record is what it is and it speaks for itself!!!! Thank you for recognizing what I have accomplished for low income communities in Atlanta! It does not reflect negatively on me that voters are so used to shoddy politicians that they feel more …   more ›

West End Leader to Run for House District 57 Seat

West End community leader Kwabena Nkromo is collecting signatures to get on the District 57 ballot as a Green Party candidate

A Green Party candidate is campaigning to get on the District 57 ballot in November. Kwabena Nkromo, a Historic West End community leader, told Patch he began collecting signatures on the petition about three weeks ago. He needs just over 1,500 signatures by August 6 to get his name on the November ballot. “We feel like it’s really do-able,” he said. Nkromo would face the winner of the District 57 Democratic primary in July. Democratic Incumbents Pat Gardner (District 57) and Rashad Taylor (District 55) will face off in what is expected to be a heated race for the Democratic ticket. Gardner and Taylor are forced to run for the same seat after legislators redrew district boundaries statewide last year. Nkromo, a leader of Neighborhood …
