Torry Lewis Running For Atlanta Council

The 29-year-old is seeking the District 4 seat now held by Cleta Winslow.

Torry Lewis announced by email that he's running for the District 4 seat on the Atlanta City Council now held by Cleta Winslow. Lewis says he's a professor and a business owner who was born in Atlanta. On his website, Lewis said, Torry decided to run for city council because he noticed that jobs are leaving the area, people are being evicted from their homes, and the lack of true representation from his city council member. He strongly believes that delivering on the message of business and job growth, traffic relief, and eradication of blighted property will: restore economic prosperity, reduce crime, and add community development opportunities to his district and to the city as whole. Fulton Elections Board Chairman Steps Down

Fulton Commission Chairman John Eaves said the departure of Roderick Edmonds presents a chance for a "fresh start" for a department that has its challenges.

Roderick Edmond, Chairman of the Fulton County Board of Registration & Elections, resigned Friday. A press statement said he will leave as soon as a replacement is identified. Chairman John H. Eaves said, “A change in leadership at this time presents an opportunity to make a fresh start as we continue to address challenges in our Registration & Elections department. We will immediately begin working to identify a replacement.” The Fulton County Registration & Elections department has had issues in the past, losing its chief and being attacked for serious problems and delays in handling recent elections.
