Atlanta NAACP’s Annual Jubilee Day Held at Ben Hill United Methodist Church
Annual Observance of the Emancipation Proclamation Celebrates 150 Years; Honors Dr. C. Clayton Powell
The Atlanta NAACP held their annual Jubilee Day in observance of the Emancipation Proclamation on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at the Ben Hill United Methodist Church. Reverend Richard Winn, senior pastor, and the Ben Hill Majestic Choir, hosted the event and welcomed a full house of NAACP members, elected officials, community leaders, friends, and well-wishers. The theme for this 150th anniversary of the publishing of the Emancipation Proclamation was, “Emancipation 2013: Honoring Our Past; Embracing Our Present; Empowering Our Future”.
