Video: Registered Voter Explains Problems with Polling Place not Having her Name

A few reports of polling places not having registered voters on their rolls.

This video is just 1 report of a polling place not having a name on their list for a verified registered voter. The young lady came to Westlake High School around 9 a.m., but was not permitted to vote because the polling place does not have her listed as a potential voter.  The voter did have a copy of the printout from the Georgia Secretary of State website, stating that her official polling place was at Westlake High School.  Poll workers at Westlake High School could not allow her to vote because their computers say she is registered to vote in Athens, GA. By the time I talked to the voter, she had been in and out of the Westlake polling place for at least 2 hours trying to rectify the issue.  She said she was still quite confident that…

Rep. Bell Re-Elected Handily

Democratic Incumbent Simone Bell voted in for another term in District 58 of the Georgia House of Representatives.

It’s been a fast and furious election season finish for Rep. Simone Bell (D-Atlanta) Not because she was in a hotly contested race Tuesday because she wasn’t. With all 26 precincts reporting, the Incumbent from District 58 garnered 87 percent of the votes to defeat Republican challenger Earl Cooper of Midtown. Almost 20,000 votes were cast. The backwards L-shaped district stretches from Virginia-Highland down to Fort McPherson in the southwest part of the city. Since winning a special election in 2009, Bell has served three sessions in the Georgia House of Representatives, but she entered Election Day 2012 doing all she could to make sure the next session doesn’t begin with the Republicans holding a the two-thirds “supermajority” threshold…

Barack Obama Re-Elected President

President Obama defeated Republican Mitt Romney in the 2012 presidential election, according to projections.

President Barack Obama and Vice-President Joe Biden were re-elected Tuesday night, defeating Republican challenger Mitt Romney and his vice-presidential running mate Rep. Paul Ryan, according to network projections. NBC News called the presidential election for Obama around 11:15 EST. The president sent a message on Twitter at 10:14 saying simply, "This happened because of you. Thank you." The Obama campaign won the most expensive presidential race ever, with both parties raising about $2.6 billion. The race was filled with negative campaigning on both sides, from President Obama attacking Romney’s business experience with Bain Capital to Romney lambasting Obama’s handling of the economy. The race tightened during the final months of the…

Mitt Romney Wins Georgia

Voters in Georgia on Tuesday cast their ballot for Mitt Romney, giving him the state's 16 Electoral votes, according to early results.

In a move that fell in line with expectations, Mitt Romney was projected to win Georgia’s 16 electoral votes on Tuesday, defeating Democrat Barack Obama. In the 2008 presidential election, the state voted for the Republican candidate, and since the 1990s has voted for the overall winner of the presidential race 3 out of 5 times. Romney and Obama did not campaign aggressively in Georgia and spent more time visiting the Peach State to raise money. The state has been a Republican stronghold in recent presidential elections.  The economy was a key issue for many voters in Georgia state, which has had a higher than average unemployment rate. Turnout was strong in Georgia and early voting was almost as popular this year as four years ago. …

Most people cannot survive on welfare and food stamps. You cannot pay your mortgage or rent and all of your utilities. I admit that you can "adjust" to having less money, but it's not really a fun place to be. There have always been people who will take advantage of the system, but the increase in costs for these programs is, in a bit part, due to high unemployment. If companies would stop …   more ›

Reports of Long Lines at Randolph Elementary in SW Atlanta

One voter reports of long lines at Randolph Elementary. An update shows that new equipment has been sent to Randolph.

UPDATE:  "I wanted to tell you that we have corrected the issues at the Randolph Elem Precinct.  Our Elections Office sent replacement machines along with additional units to the site." - Alicia Phillips, Fulton County Government A voter came to Westlake High School to cast her vote, but only after waiting for 2 hours at Randolph Elementary.  Randolph was not her correct polling place, but unfortunately she still went there and waited in the line to vote. Reports from her and from what we heard on the radio is that there was 500 people outside waiting to vote.  Supposedly they were down to only 1 Identification Verification computer which was holding everybody up. At Westlake High School there have been no lines, and the poll workers are …

Let the Voting Begin! SW Atlanta Led the Early Voting Turnout - But Don't Stop Now!

Will voters continue to turnout in big numbers in SW Atlanta for President Obama's re-election bid?

The registration and "ground-game" efforts by the various campaigns has shown signs of success during the early voting in Fulton County, but the real success will be on display after the polls close tonight. According to the unofficial numbers from the Fulton County Elections Office, as of the end of Early Voting, 152,563 people have cast their ballots.  Nearly 40% of that total came from 2 polling places in Southwest Atlanta.  Adamsville Recreation Center has been the second most active voting site while, the most active site was the South Service Center that is located near the Atlanta Airport.  They have had over 60,000 voters cast their ballots at their 2 locations alone! After early voting myself at the Adamsville location, I stood …

Georgia Votes: 2012 Election Results

Charter school amendment appears headed for win.

UPATE 5:50 pm If you are in line to vote at 7 pm, you will get to vote even though the polls close then. Tens of thousands of Fulton County voters have already cast ballots today. Turnout is especially high for today’s General Election, as it is in most Presidential election years. It's too early to know how this year compares to 2008. In the evening after traditional work hours, peak turnout is anticipated, and tens of thousands of additional voters could exercise their right to vote. Fulton County elections officials released a statement advising that voters who are in line at 7 pm will be allowed to vote under Georgia law. As provided by Georgia law, voters who are over age 75 or who have a disability are eligible to ask to move ahead …
