Oukumo is the closing ceremony or graduation of adolescent male and female students from the ZHBC Rites of Passage Program.
Zion Hill Baptist Church located at 6175 Campbellton Road in Atlanta will present the “Oukumo Closing Ceremony” Sunday, November 11, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. Admission is FREE. Oukumo is the closing ceremony or graduation of adolescent male and female students from the ZHBC Rites of Passage Program. The theme for this 2012 ceremony is The Serengeti: African Pride. Over forty students enrolled in the 13-week program have been infused with historical tenets of Christian faith and African American culture--newfound knowledge to build bridges of strength, pride, and determination for future success as leaders in the local and global community. Pastor Aaron L. Parker, PhD and the Zion Hill Baptist Church family will observe the congregation’s 140th Church Anniversary, “The Legacy That Drives Us On”, with three days of family-focused activities, August 15th, 17th, and 19th at 6175 Campbellton Road, SW, Atlanta. The celebration began with a special “Movies on the Rock” Bible for Life Class, Wednesday, August 15th at 6:30 p.m. that explored African American religious traditions from the 1800’s to 2012 followed by conversation facilitated by Pastor Parker. It continued Friday, August 17th with a Brush Arbor Festival with a cast of ZHBC’s talented singers and liturgical dancers in a musical chronicling the history of Zion Hill through selected hymns, gospels, and spirituals that span …

The guest is part of the church's first-ever celebration of Christian cultures around the world.
Zion Hill Baptist Church will host its first ever “Global Glory” celebration of the Christian faith by cultures from around the world on Sunday April 29, at 5 p.m. Nigerian scholar and evangelist Dr. Adonijah Ogbonnaya will be the guest preacher. Several churches from the metro Atlanta representing various denominations and countries have been invited to come together in worship with singing, dancing, drumming and messages in the different languages of participating cultures. Ogbonnaya is the senior pastor of Venice United Methodist Church in California.
