News Nearby: Creekside High Football Player Dies After Scrimmage with Banneker

Tragedy has struck the High School football community after a routine tackle.

Several churches in Southwest Atlanta on Sunday mourned the loss of 16 year-old DeAntre Turman who died from a broken neck he suffered during a Friday night football scrimmage between Creekside High and Banneker High School.

According to CBS Atlanta, "the official autopsy showed 16-year-old DeAntre Turman, a junior at Creekside High, died from a broken neck. His third cervical vertebra was fractured, according the Fulton County medical examiner's office."
